Conestoga College’s Media Foundations program helps students build a broad skillset for online and broadcast media as they explore areas of creative industries to find their passion. Students who want to be a photographer, multimedia content creator, producer, visual storyteller, or marketing and communications expert, this one-year certificate program can help them build a solid practical and theoretical grounding in creativity, video and photographic technology, written and verbal communication, and the professional use of social media and web platforms.
Over two semesters, faculty with current industry experience will provide guidance as students generate ideas, write, present, capture images, and use online and social media platforms to strengthen their storytelling skills. Students will work on both individual and collaborative team projects, using industry-standard software and technology, giving them an opportunity to build a competitive portfolio of original work.
Media Foundations prepares students for further education in various Creative Industries programs, such as Broadcasting-Television and Independent Production, Broadcast Radio, Journalism, and Advertising and Marketing Communications.
