Graduate from Cambrian's Child and Youth Care program in just two years. The nationally-accredited program offers a condensed delivery format and provides students with the knowledge and placement experiences they need to launch their career. Through theory and experiential lab courses, as well as two block fieldwork semesters, students will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to work with children, adolescents, and their families who are experiencing social, emotional, behavioural, and mental health issues in a variety of settings. These settings include mental health, residential care, correctional, community, educational, and child welfare agencies/services. Courses emphasize the acquisition of evidence-based theories and interventions, ensuring students can effectively facilitate positive change for at risk children, youth, and their families. Shift work, which includes nights, days, afternoons, and weekends, is a reality in many child and youth care settings (e.g. residential care), and students are required to follow the work schedules and routines of their fieldwork placements.
