Lakehead University’s Faculty of Education prepares prospective teachers for a dynamic and rewarding career through unique and innovative programming. By emphasizing critical thinking skills and collaborative learning, students will have the flexibility to explore the teaching methods, concepts and values that are meaningful to them.
This program emphasizes practical, experiential learning to ensure students are fully prepared to enter into the workforce post-graduation. Lakehead University’s programs are continually adapted to encompass a variety of educational settings and training opportunities in two divisions:
- Primary-Junior (P/J): JK – Grade 6
- Intermediate-Senior (I/S): Grades 7-12
Mathematics seeks hidden patterns that help to understand life and the complex problems that surround. This discipline of numbers, quantity, and space can be applied to many fields and industries, from Life Science to Finance.
As a student in Department of Mathematics, they will develop advanced analytical and critical thinking skills in addition to:
- Research techniques
- Scholarly writing proficiency
- Comprehensive understanding of mathematical structures
- Mathematical proof formulation and solution skills
Mathematics is a very diverse and intellectually stimulating field of study. In addition to the traditional Mathematics programs, this program offer Mathematical Physics and the flexibility to combine Mathematics degree with a degree in Education, Economics, or Physics. students will benefit from small class sizes, world-class faculty, unique research opportunities, and the ability to pursue mathematical topics they find most appealing.
