This joint honors program offers students the opportunity to study two complementary European languages in their global cultural contexts. The program focuses on languages that are among the 10 most widely spoken in the world, extending beyond Europe to large parts of Africa and the Americas.
The majority of graduates in this program begin as complete beginners in Portuguese. Through intensive language study, including a year abroad, students are able to develop advanced spoken and written skills in both Portuguese and French.
In addition to language classes, students will explore various aspects of Francophone and Lusophone culture. The curriculum includes courses on literature, cinema, political history, social movements, and philosophical ideas.
