The Royal Society of Biology accredited Biochemistry BSc degree programme is the point where chemistry, biology and medicine meet. Biochemistry deals with the molecular nuts and bolts of living organisms and diseases.
Advances in the biosciences are having a profound impact on daily lives, from human health to conservation, making it a hugely rewarding area to study and work in. This course allows students to spend a year of study at an overseas institution as part of the biochemistry degree.
The international year is intercalated between the second and final year of the course, making this a four-year course. For the international year, students have a wide range of potential overseas destinations.
Studying at the University of Birmingham means students will benefit from high-technology facilities and teaching from world-renowned experts in their field. Students will also be able to tailor the course to match their own interests and goals, and have the unprecedented opportunity to join one of the research groups, working on live research projects.
This programme has been accredited by the Royal Society of Biology. Accredited degree programmes contain a solid academic foundation in biological knowledge and key skills, and prepare graduates to address the needs of employers.
