This course will help students to improve the skills they need to progress successfully onto their foundation, undergraduate, or postgraduate course. Exact course content depends on the students' entry level, but each level will help them to develop the following important academic language and study skills:
- Language Skills for Academic Studies
- Academic Reading
- Academic Listening and Note-Taking Skills for Lectures
- Academic Writing and Research Skills
- Academic Speaking and Presentation Skills
- Using Academic Sources and Referencing Skills
- Critical Thinking
During the course, students will build a portfolio of coursework, which will be used as part of their final assessment. Each student has a personal tutor who will meet them regularly to help them to develop individual targets and to achieve their academic goals.
This course gives students the academic English and academic study skills they need to prepare for their future university studies.
