The Faculty of Engineering at Lakehead University - Thunder Bay offers a uniquely designed four-year Bachelor of Engineering Degree program in Chemical Engineering, with a Co-op/Internship option available. The BEng (Chemical) degree at Lakehead University is accredited through the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB).
The field of engineering is generally associated with finding solutions for real world problems in an analytical fashion using the math, science and problem-solving skills. Lakehead University believes engineers must also possess excellent communication skills as well as an understanding of the business, legal, and societal issues that impact development of the technological products and processes required to meet the demands of a global economy.
As a chemical engineer, students will be skilled in the development, design, construction, and operation of industrial plants in which natural resources are transferred into useful products.
Additionally, students will be involved in the manufacture of such commodities as synthetic fibers, plastics, fertilizers, detergents, salts, foods, pharmaceuticals, resins, petroleum products, and pulp and paper.
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program is a general degree designed to prepare students for success in a wide range of careers in management. Students will develop a comprehensive and integrated knowledge of business and management functions and a deeper understanding of the business environment. Students will also develop their analytical, decision-making, and communications skills with the ability to examine ethical considerations in business. These goals are achieved through intensive and stimulating lectures, energetic class discussions, contemporary and relevant case studies, individual and team assignments and presentations.
