The FIU Global First Year Program combines credit-bearing courses from the first year of a student’s degree with additional support services, instruction tailored to their academic and language level, and cultural experiences to help ensure their future success. The Global First Year experience not only provides academic, language, and cultural growth but also includes the Career Accelerator program, offering valuable professional skills to prepare students for a successful career.
The Career Accelerator, designed specifically for international students, includes four semesters of professional development and career guidance, skills-based training, opportunities for exclusive internships, unique workshops, real-world experiences, and cross-cultural group work. FIU’s Department of Criminal Justice, recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in criminal justice education, offers a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice to meet the growing demand for degreed professionals in homeland security.
The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice online program at FIU prepares students to learn about the procedures of the criminal justice system, criminological theory, the constitution, terrorism, and public policy. Graduates of the program are prepared to work for agencies such as local police departments, CIA, FBI, Secret Service, Homeland Security, Border Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and U.S. Marshals. The degree also serves as a solid foundation for advanced studies in law and legal studies or for those interested in attending law school. Upon graduation, students have numerous career paths available in various local, state, and federal agencies, all with excellent job outlooks.
