The FIU Global First Year Program combines credit-bearing courses from the first year of a student’s degree with additional support services, instruction tailored to their academic and language level, and cultural experiences to help ensure their future success. The Global First Year experience goes beyond academic, language, and cultural growth by offering the Career Accelerator program, which provides valuable professional skills to prepare students for a successful career.
The Career Accelerator is specifically designed for international students and includes four semesters of professional development and career guidance, skills-based training, opportunities for exclusive internships, unique workshops, real-world experiences, and cross-cultural group work. The School of Computing and Information Sciences offers a Bachelor of Arts in Information Technology, providing challenging degree programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD levels with high-quality teaching by experienced faculty. The programs prepare students for careers in business, industry, or government by offering a mix of application-oriented coursework and study of underlying theory and principles. The programs are designed to ensure that students’ technical knowledge and skills remain relevant after leaving the University. Additionally, the School offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Information Technology as a second major for students enrolled in another Bachelor degree program or those who already hold a Bachelor degree from an accredited institution.
