The unique structure of this programs enables students to earn a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering in four years while also completing the requirements of a Civil Engineering Technology Diploma by the end of the second year of their BEng degree program.
Studying engineering at Lakehead University gives students an unconventional opportunity to gain the skills required by employers. The unique combination of BEng degree with a Diploma in Engineering Technology produces graduates with hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge critical to success.
As a civil engineer, students will be involved in the planning, design, construction, and rehabilitation of such engineering works as buildings, airports, highways, dams and power projects, water supply and waste disposal systems, bridges, harbors and industrial facilities. They will tackle design and research work in highway geometrics and transportation systems, high-performance concretes, environmental issues, watershed analysis, foundation, and slope stability projects or structural analysis and design engineering.
