Program Description
The English Language Preparation program is a chance to improve your English language skills before beginning your pathway program. This program will you develop the required language skills to be successful in your intended pathway and degree program. 1-Semester Pathway and 2-Semester Pathway pre-sessional English are available. 1-Semester Pathway Pre-sessional English requires Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.0 overall (5.0 in all subskills) and 2-Semester Pathway Pre-sessional English requires Academic IELTS for UKVI 4.5 Overall (minimum 4.5 in all sub-skills).
This program consists of a pathway program offered by StudyGroup at the International Study Centre at the University of Sussex followed by entry into a university program offered at the University of Sussex. In the Pre-Master's programme, you will study courses related to your intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance your skills as a student. Advancement into your intended program depends upon the successful completion of the pathway program.
The Pre-Masters in Business, Media and Social Sciences, provides a route to a variety of postgraduate degrees at the University of Sussex. English language and career skills are combined with subject-specific modules such as social sciences, cultural studies, a variety of business skills like accounting and business management to provide you with a strong foundation for your chosen business, media and social sciences degree.
Journalism remains a crucial part of democratic public life. This innovative, intensive Master of Arts in International Journalism’s global focus guides you as you learn to research and write news and features, creating and adapting news stories across platforms.
This course focuses on developing the practical skills and the critical knowledge to help you to reflect on your professional practice in an international context. You’ll learn to:
- understand and debate the broader issues driving news organisations across the world
- be knowledgeable about the functions of journalism in a contemporary environment
- produce copy for a range of platforms including print, online, radio, tv and social media
- critically evaluate and analyse a range of journalistic outputs and their characteristics.
