Program Description
Students with attributes such as being relationship-oriented individual, naturally comfortable with people in any situation, have the ability to open the doors to Human Resources, which requires high emotional intelligence, a common trait amongst HR professionals. HR professionals work in both management and union positions and share a common desire to work and see others work in a healthy and safe environment. An HR professional understands the importance of following policies and procedures, but also has the intuition to know when it would be best to be flexible. They need to look for solutions to sometimes complicated problems, blending theory, experience and gut instinct.
As with this program students will learn about accounting, marketing essentials, training, human rights in employment, business law & ethics and information systems. Students will also take advanced courses covering statistics, grievance procedures & arbitration and international human resources. In their last semester they will be dedicated to a work placement so that students can get real-world experience that will give them an even bigger advantage on the job market.
